Welcome to Blue Moon Creative Author Services! My name is Karen, and I'm both a traditional and self-published author of 55 books under two pen names. I have been writing since I was sixteen. Writing has always been a passion, and I'm no stranger to putting those finishing touches on a manuscript.

I offer two services:

1. Proofreading

$150.00 - first 50,000 words

$175.00 - 50,001 to 75,000

$200.00 - 75,001 to 100,000

$250.00 - 100,001 to 125,000

$300.00 - 125,001 to 150,000

$350.00 - 150,001 to 175,000

$400.00 - 175,001 to 200,000

2. Content editing

I will review your manuscript for words or sentences that are extraneous or overused, run-on sentences, redundancies from repeating the same information in different ways, dialogue or paragraphs that can be tightened, scenes where the action is confusing or the author’s meaning is unclear due to bad transitions, tonal shifts and unnatural phrasing, passages that don’t read well due to bland language use, confusing narrative digressions, changes that can be made to improve the pacing of a passage, words or phrases that may clarify or enhance your meaning. Then there is copy editing which corrects spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax, ensures consistency in spelling, hyphenation, numerals, fonts, and capitalization, flags ambiguous or factually incorrect statements and tracks macro concerns like internal consistency. For all that, I would charge $0.01 per word or $10 per 1,000 words.

3. Developmental critiquing

I will review your manuscript for character development, plot progression (both external and internal), conflict, pacing, and overall story. I charge 0.008 cents a word. I will not do any editing, but give my advice on how to improve your manuscript for publication.

I have four gifts/skills that I believe make me an exceptional proofreader and critiquer:

• I'm very observant and catch errors others might miss.
• I have 20 years of experience producing selling manuscripts for traditional as well as self-publishing.
• I have been actively critiquing work for over 20 years.
• I will give you direct advice that won't be harsh.

Ultimately, the choice to change or adjust your manuscript will be up to you…because, when all’s said and done, it’s YOUR story, and you have to make the final decision.
